Regional Units are currently functioning at Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Jhansi and Agra. These units work under the direction and control of the Directorate of Archaeology at Lucknow. Except for archaeological excavations which are conducted directly by the Directorate, all other work is done by these units in the areas of their jurisdiction.
